Biography
Sukhi Walia is a young Canadian/Punjabi singer and beat boxing talent, hailing from Vancouver BC. The anticipated release of Sukhi’s first single, produced by Sunny Brown of Culture Shock, will reach audiences later this summer. Sukhi’s recent debut performance in June, 2010, was along side highly prolific artists RDB and Nindi Kaur, Luv, A-slam, and Laddi, to name a few.
The summer jam concert of the year, the ‘International Affair’ was hosted by Sukhi’s very own company HOD Productions, whom he is owner and director of. HOD Productions represents Sukhi’s incredible passion and drive, at a very young age, to create opportunities for himself and others, while establishing a strong music scene in Vancouver for younger audiences.
Sukhi’s passion for music was first expressed as child in his ability to dance. As soon as he could walk, it was evident that his incredible sense of rhythm and love of music and dance was truly in his blood. Growing up, his talents led him to playing a variety of instruments including tabla, harmonium, dhol, tumbi, and piano. His musical involvement led him to winning multiple awards in school competitions. As pro beat boxer, he first developed his skills in high school, with a desire to create beats. Having no drum machine on hand, he taught himself to beat box and quickly gained notoriety performing and competing in the Vancouver beat boxing scene.
Soon after, Sukhi transitioned over to singing, as a way to expand himself as a performer and to further express his talents.
As a versatile high energy performer, Sukhi sings in Hindi, Punjabi and English and his inspirations come from RnB, hiphop, and rap, often creating his own beats through beat boxing. His influences include Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Jay Sean, Raghav, and Adnan Sami.
He is currently a student at University Of British Colombia and is a member of the UBC Football team and other student clubs.
